Thousands attend Natural & Organic Products Europe trade show in London

Natural & Organic Award 2010 Winners announced

London’s Olympia was buzzing with activity over 11-12 April as over 8000 people gathered to attend Europe’s leading annual trade show for natural and organic products – Natural & Organic Products Europe.  Marketed as the ‘must-attend’ business event for the entire natural products, health food and organic sectors, the show’s 500 plus exhibitors were joined by thousands of trade buyers from all around the world.
“This was without doubt the most successful Natural & Organic Products Europe to date – an extraordinary achievement considering the current economic climate,” says the show’s Event Director, Simon Barry.  “The success of the show, in no small measure, is due to the extraordinary efforts our exhibitors put into promoting the event, plus the hugely loyal following we continue to receive from all the key buyers, associations and industry bodies.”

The two-day show also included the launch of the latest Soil Association’s Organic Market Report, which noted that whilst sales of organic products in the UK fell by 12.9% in 2009 to £1.84 billion there were clear signs of increasing confidence among consumers during the early months of this year.  Full details of the report can now be found on the Soil Association’s website.

The winners of the coveted Natural & Organic Awards were also announced over the weekend at London Olympia’s Pillar Hall, after the close of business on the first day of the show.  Hosted in association with the Soil Association and Natural Products magazine, the two-part Natural & Organic Awards format comprised an early evening awards presentation, sponsored by Nordic Naturals, Solgar, and Kinetic Natural Products Distributor, followed by a celebration party at the fabulous Kensington Roof Gardens.

"Despite the economic difficulties we have experienced over the past year, we have seen more innovation and new product development in the natural and organic products industry than I can remember, which makes the achievements of this year’s winners even more impressive," says Carsten Holm, MD of show organiser’s Diversified Business Communications.  "Whilst we continue to have many challenges ahead, the entrepreneurial spirit and passion that has been so evident this year, will ensure that our industry continues to thrive in the years to come."

The awards presentation included the winners of 17 categories, including Best New Food Product, Best New Non-Food Product, Best New VMS Product, Best New Natural Beauty Product, Best New Sports Nutrition Product, and Best New Organic Food Product, which were voted for by visitors to the show’s New Product Showcase throughout Sunday 11 April.
